ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT OF CANCER  

The Medical Board of California now is supporting the concept that the outdated laws in California needs to be changed so physicians can offer alternative treatment of Cancer. At the Feb. 3^rd meeting of the Medical Board, I asked for their support on this. Dr. Alpert, Chair of the Board, stated this was important for the board to support. His experience attending the Sunset Hearing of the Medical Board convinced him of this need.  Since this was not an agenda item it could not be voted on. However, none of the board members expressed opposition to his view. It is now possible for  their staff to work with us on this to make it legal. 

NEW TRAINING MANUAL FOR INVESTIGATORS TO USE WHEN EVALUATING PHYSICIANS WHO PRACTICE ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE.

This was developed by staff of the California Medical Board and will possibly become a model for other states. This was done to show efforts of the medical board to be in compliance with our bill SB-2100. I will have a copy next week and will be able to review it and send information to interested individuals.

MEDICAL BOARD TO MAKE STRATEGIC PLAN

The new board members want to make development of strategic plan for guidance of the board for the future an important priority. The results from this strategic plan can influence their policy for years to come and policies of other boards that follow suit. Discipline and enforcement is a priority item in this plan. It should be a high priority for our citizens’ movement be involved in assisting in providing the board with information so as to have policies to the benefits of citizens choice be adopted.

MIDWIVES IN CALIFORNIA ORGANIZING.

The midwife organizations and their support groups are united in their effort to win the right to practice. Our citizens’   organization will provide the leadership to their effort. Their tentative goal is to raise a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars to support potential legal and/or legislative efforts.

MERCURY FILLING BILL MAY BE INTRODUCED IN CALIFORNIA

Meeting with potential authors are under way. The proposed bill has been submitted to the office of the legislative council. We are one of the organizations supporting this legislative effort.

HEARINGS ON MANDATORY VACCINES

We are working for freedom of choice for parents on the issue of vaccines. The number of vaccines for children is increasing. We want better research and independent medical review of vaccines before they are release.   

DR. VikkiE HUFNAGEL CONTINUED HARASSMENT BY MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT.

The most recent was the action by medical board investigators in obtaining a search warrant that had no reason for search. It is reported they stole valuable cameras and other personal property. They did not put this on the list of property taken. They destroyed family heirlooms, and took many personal items like her manuscripts, daughter’s application for school, passes to entertainment events, all her computers etc.

The history of about eight years of harassment must stop. This includes the board taking her license to practice, the arson fire that destroyed her home, physical threats, lies about her etc. These attacks are related to her role as a whistle blower for than Senator Watson, who was chair of the Senate Health Committee; on the illegal and unprofessional way some physicians were performing hysterectomies on women in the poor black community. Dr. Hufnagel wrote the book No More Hysterectomies and the state law requiring informed consent and information on choice for women. This law was passed years ago and never enforced. We are providing her assistance in stopping the ongoing harassment and aiding her in regaining her license.  A major news magazine is now interviewing her and was taking pictures at the medical board for in-depth story to publish in the near future.

VIDEO TAPES OF SUNSET REVIEW OF THE MEDICAL BOARD

I am making copies of the public input section of this hearing. It contains testimony from Dr Hufnagel and other physicians. The tape has over two and half hours of testimony. A free copy will be sent to individuals who are making monthly financial support to our organization. Send e-mail or phone me if you wish a copy.  A copy will be sent to others who send in a donation of fifteen or more dollars to assist our efforts. THE GOALS WE WILL WORK ON IN 2002

            To change the state law so that the citizens in California have the same rights as citizens in the other Western States in having it legal for licensed physicians to offer safe and effective alternative treatment of cancer.

            To change the laws and medical board policies so that physicians who practice safe and effective non-drug based treatments are not disciplined for not using the standard allopathic drug approach.

            To change the current law so that women have the option of having a natural birth rather than the medical model of birth.

            To change the state laws that supports the practice of putting industrial toxic waste (fluoride) products in our public drinking water and toxic mercury in tooth fillings.

            To increases the ability of citizens to have access to Licensed Clinical Naturopathic Physicians and lay  practitioners of natural health.

            To protect and advance the right of citizens to have access to natural products.

            To have the government and insurance firms approve the use of safe and effective natural approaches for; children with ADDHD and emotional/learning distorters instead of drugs,  to seniors with age related disabilities, to the developmental disabled to enhance their intelligence and ability, to mental ill individuals to return to normal life, to  individuals with drug and alcohol addiction so the underlining health conditions related to addictions can be remedied.

            To monitor the thousands of bills in Sacramento and when appropriate to provide testimony for or against and alert citizens so they can help protect their rights.

We need to expand our income to become more effective. Our goal is to increases my office space so we can have volunteers help. We are training a volunteer to assist us in our legislative work in the capitol, we need to cover her expenses. As director I need to have hire a part time staff person to help in my office.  Some funds for college student interns. As you may know we do not have any full time or high paid staff, we are a very lean and effective organization
